String Quartet No. 1, Mvt. IV

The fourth movement of String Quartet No. 1 is a six-minute movement for string quartet, written for the Momenta Quartet and premiered at Schare Music Hall, Rutgers University. The movement is performed as a standalone work. It opens with the gesture that ends Ben Johnston’s String Quartet No. 10 — his last — in homage to his work.
