Elestial
for Seaboard and metal objects
Written for Kwami Winfield and Ethan Isaac
Materials
Elestial is a seven-minute duo for ROLI Seaboard and metal objects, written for Kwami Winfield and the composer. The continuous-surface MIDI controller is treated as a transformable instrument across the work — each section reframes it as a different sounding body, paired against struck and bowed metal. The title borrows from the term for an elestial quartz, a crystal grown in layered terminations; the piece moves through its own stack of refractive layers, sliding between physical and digital surfaces. Elestial appears on the album Imaginary Keyboards on Bandcamp.
