A Chronicle in Stone
Materials
A Chronicle in Stone is a seven-minute fixed media composition built from recordings of stone — friction, cracking, and architectural impulse responses — processed through concrète and granular synthesis. It takes its narrative from an original short story, A Chronicle of Stone, in which a block of limestone in an old church recounts its history: a vast geological union broken apart by quarrying, the cut blocks set side by side in mortar, and the slow fracturing of that new community until the stones fall silent. It was premiered at the Shindel Choir Hall in New Brunswick, NJ.
